Jump Gear Walkthrough
Jump Gear might not be the most challenging BMX bike game available, but is is definitely one of the most unique and one of the most fun. In this game, you have to navigate through rolling hills to reach your next check point. Along the way, you have to avoid various obstacles that try to get in your way. You will have to avoid various size balls that will push you backwards and make it harder for you to reach your destination. These little enemies don't actually cause you to crash, they just provide a serious inconvenience. Then again, even crashing doesn't mean the end of the game in Jump Gear. Should you find yourself upside down, you simply need to jump to get yourself gear side down on the track again. Sounds pretty easy, doesn't it? Well, it's not as easy as you might think.
The real challenge with Jump Gear is the time limit. While it is true that you won't need to start over if you crash, crashing takes time. You need to correct your position to continue and the longer it takes to do that, less time you will have to complete the level. Add to this those pesky orbs and the time limit can prove to be the biggest obstacle you have to over come. The controls are the classic controls you would expect in any BMX bike game so they aren't hard to master, but you bounce around a lot and it can be a bit difficult to navigate because of that. This is all part of what makes this game so addictive. In the sequel to this game you can make your own track which gives the sequel a bit of an advantage, but the levels aren't nearly as fun and the game itself isn't quite as challenging.
Along the way, Jump Gear offers a wide variety of very handy powerups if you are willing to take the time to get them. You likely won't be able to get them all, but even getting a few can definitely extend you game. From the big jump power up to the powerup that freezes pools of water to make them easier to drive over, these powerups are a great feature that make a difficult game a little less challenging. You should definitely try to get all the 'countdown' powerups you can to give yourself a little more time to get through the course. Just be careful. The powerup that freezes all of the water can easily trap you in that water which is definitely not something you want.
For a beginner that hasn't had much experience with BMX bike games, Jump Gear might be a little complicated. With time and patience you can definitely improve, but it might be a better idea to start with something a little less complex. This game is great for advanced players who are looking for something a little different without completely abandoning the genre altogether.
